Eulogies have been used for many years as a way of giving more depth to audience’s knowledge of the life of the individual.
This guide is designed to assist you in remembering your loved one, as writing a eulogy is often something we have little experience of, yet is important to tell of the person’s life.
Below are a few simple steps to help you bring together a full eulogy:
• Bring together all of the facts about the individual
o Relationships
o Jobs
o Family
• Focus on key attributes throughout the speech
o Eg. Charitable, sense of humour, etc
• Organise all the ideas into a logical order
o Chronological order
o Bullet points
• Create a first draft
o Intertwine the facts and the attributes to create a draft copy
o Once written it will be possible to read through and identify changes that are required.
• Once the final draft has been created it is imperative to practice a few times, it makes the delivery smoother and allows the audience to absorb the tribute.
